In 2015, Department of Justice found that Corinthian College Inc, the company that owned Everest, WyoTech, and Heald colleges, had routinely lied to their students in order to drive up enrollment rates. For this reason, the US DoE offers federal debt relief for former Corinthian students through a process known as “Borrower Defense to Repayment.” Defense to Repayment is a government program that allows student who were defrauded at their school to apply for federal loans forgiveness.
