NMAP collaborated with lawyers and families seeking justice for Mexico’s notorious Guardería ABC case, the 2009 Hermosillo Daycare Center fire that killed 49 children and injured more than 100 others. We produced a video that was presented to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in October, 2014 in Washington D.C. during the thematic hearing on admissibility. The video launched a public awareness campaign in Mexico about impunity, and the need for international remedies for the victims’ families. The resulting petition gathered over 30,000 signatures, and the case continues to wind its way through the Inter-American system as the families await justice.
